Khutbah by Imam Hassan Sharif two weeks ago before his murder.
May his memory be a blessing and reminder of our role as Muslims to stand unwaveringly in our faith. Our time here is too short to be more loyal to our institutions and wealth than to our faith and people.
From Brazil to Argentina, to Peru to Venezuela, Latin America is home to some of the most wonderful Mosques, that stylistically reflect the cultural heritage & diversity of local Muslim communities.
Here are the most incredible Mosques in Latin America

I pray when Allah take me people laud my name for the good works that I did and not for the evil I put into the world. The amount of people lifting up the Imams name in love and light…inshallah we join him in Firdous

There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but is regarded as a charitable gift for him

to have. His emphasis on community life, accountability, and LOVE will never leave my spirit.
I thank Allah much for the women and sisters in our community. If it wasn’t for their perseverance & strength many of us would have fallen apart or worst this week. Our sisters deserve the upmost respect & comfort yet they are the first to be disregarded. O Allah give them Noor
Alhamdulilah! Today I was awarded a certificate for the New Jersey State Governors Volunteerism Awards. Thank you to everyone who nominated me 💯

Every time I see the comments about country music I’m reminded of this painting from the 1780s featuring Gullah people dancing in Beaufort , SC . The man seated is playing a banjo and underneath him sits a jug. “country” is slated to folk spirituals and blues

Yessir , this is a major issue in my family’s Gullah community in Bucksport , South Carolina . We purchased land through the Homesteading Acts immediately after Emancipation and have been there ever since
Alhamdulilah, my nomination to the City of Newark Youth Investment Council / Workforce Development Board was approved by Mayor Baraka. I get sworn in next week inshallah
For most of us we may not always have the newest version or the latest edition of all our desires and needs. Showing gratitude for what you have before you will keep you from becoming among those who are ungrateful of Allahs bounty.
today I'm planting some Carolina Rice Peas which are a variety of field pea created by the Gullah Geechee. these were historically grown alongside Carolina Rice 🌾
these seeds were passed on to me by a Black farmer & I'll do the same after harvest 🤞🏿
the last two decades of white passing Latinx musicians exploiting a sound created originally in Jamaica(reggae) and the’ innovated in Panama(reggaeton) has been exhausting.
We are just now seeing Afro Latinos AND the larger African presence in reggaeton music videos as well
Anyway here’s the background.
Basically the entire genre of reggaeton is being sued for copyright infringement for sampling and interpolating a reggae track.
I made the mistake of signing up for a free meal plan guide from a fitness brother on instagram and now I’m getting emails from him titled : “How to be an Alpha Male”
Alhamdulilah I see everyone’s outreach and prayers for Imam Hassan and the Masjid Muhammad Newark family. It doesn’t got unnoticed. May Allah protect you all Ameen

Women get degrees and certs to cope with random grievances. That doesn’t mean they have the slightest intention of working in that field or paying for anything lol

The absence of faces is common in some Islamic art.Being Christianized doesn’t negate the Islamic presence in Gullah Geechee culture. Ring shout is derived from hajj practices of circling the Kabah
I remember meeting
@RyeRye
backstage at AfroPunk 13’ I was volunteering I snuck into the backstage area where a lot of BMORE producers and dancers were chillin. I was telling her Jersey was going to take club culture and run with it. She was mad nice. Dope to see Drake sample her

Charles Brooks, a resident of Newark, N.J, is credited with inventing the street sweeping trucks in 1896.
Street sweeping was a manual job until he invented the self-propelled street sweeper.

read this Facebook post from Imam Hassan regarding an attempted murder on his life back in August I urge you take 5 min out of your day to do so. For context he was spending large amounts of time giving street dawah, deterring drug usage & sales in the streets of

It’s sad to see the distinguished role of musicianship being minimized to only performing for the sake of the viewers “entertainment” today & not for historical and sometimes spiritual purposes
I think the legacy of “djelis” in African diasporic culture is heavy in Rasta music
Local NJ Imam Hassan Sharif shot; died from injuries. May Allah deem him a shaheed and grant him Paradise without reckoning, and let him intercede for his family.
25 years ago today, Janet Jackson released “Got 'til It's Gone!”

Look up Dr Robert Bullard he’s a Black man and the Father of Environmental Justice studies. He’s done extensive research on garbage incendiaries in Texas
Also please go into these masjids in Newark and talk to some of these older brothers and sisters who are almost 90 years old.
They lived through the times of Noble Drew Ali, the leadership of Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, and Imam Warith Deen Muhammad. These people exist
I saw more Black men cry in this one week than I ever have in my entire life. Elders and young brothers united in sorrow and hope for a change in a community/world designed to keep us in the grave.
16-17 year olds in Newark are now able to vote in local school board elections after the passing of a historic ordinance. Dope experience providing testimony today. Love to all the youth who spoke.
