Delighted that my piece on Laurence Ginnell, marking the centenary of his death and giving an overview of his career in a global context, has made the latest edition of the venerable @HistIreHedge. Make sure to pick up a copy!

@TheEuropeanLad Who lost the final to United in May - United, who are still in the competition.

@ImpressionistAL I thought this couldn’t get any more perfect and then he finished with Denzel! Hilarious!

@WorkTheSpace Would not be surprised if a major competitor to FM emerges in the near future, which is partly the issue here. If they had a strong competitor, this would never have happened because they’d have had their ducks in a row and would never have lost sight of their audience.

@FootballManager What a mess. Correct decision, eventually, and a tough one for all involved - human beings, trying to do their jobs. That said, SI needs to onboard all of the concerns expressed about game content after the original announcement last summer and to an extent, get back to basics.

@UnitedPeoplesTV What “financial position”? It’s a rich club with a new part-owner! As far as I can see, @INEOS has made the club poorer on the field and at the bottom line, and seems to be concerned only with showboating in the municipal politics of Manchester.

Massive, massive pressure on Hojlund and Zirkzee now, Hojlund more so. Time for them to start delivering.
🚨🔐 Manchester United’s current stance is clear: NO more incomings are planned on Deadline Day. Dorgu, Heaven, Diego Leon set to be the January signings for Man United — deal for Nkunku/Bailey were never close. Alejandro Garnacho set to stay, internal decision has been made.

@mortenfrolich @TelegraphDucker No evidence he’s any good either. Fourteen games this season for Bayern and not a goal in sight.

@lauriewhitwell I would say letting a forward go and signing nobody other than a defender in the middle of a goalscoring crisis is the very definition of urgency here.

@Muppetiers They can’t score goals, and their answer at the end of a month-long transfer window is to let a forward go and sign a defender. Take a bow @INEOS, lining up all the ingredients for relegation
