Currently just 3 crore people pay income tax in a country of 140 crore. Today’s decision should take that number down to around half I guess.The more we shrink the tax net, the more the burden a tiny sliver of rich folks will have to bear. This is clearly not a sustainable model

@deepakshenoy There's been a significant shift from "lets grow the economy and that will lift all boats" to "we'll tax the consumer and give money to the bottom of the pyramid". Clearly the latter is of more value electorally so not sure things will change much in this budget.

#Rekhachithram - another winner for Asif Ali and the Malayalam film industry. Very smartly written thriller with the 80s film industry sequences woven in really well. Works especially well for someone like me who has lived through the Kathodu kathoram period

And in Kerala it is 8% stamp duty and 2% registration charges. Killer rates compared to the rest of the country. And the consequence? Struggling to find buyers in Kerala for a plot of land in a full white transaction.
Real Estate charges in different states. 6-7% stamp duty, 5% GST on under-construction, registration & legal charges. In total can add 7-12%. Rarely factored into real estate returns. Story by @Shiprasorout (Bangalore rate applies to homes> Rs 45 lakh)
