Paideia high school Academic Bowl Teams have qualified for the Small School National Championship Tournament & the National High School Championship. 2 teams qualified for the Small School National Championship in April in Chicago. 1 team will be in the National Championship.

Six high school students performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association District Honor Band on Feb. 5.

Two Paideia high school robotics teams competed in the recent NCCA VEX VRC Tipping Point Qualifier 2. The team of Kenan Orlovic, Alex Crowley, and Rohan Chanani were the tournament champions. Wilson McConaughey, Page Fales, and Alex Liu qualified for the state championship.

Paideia students had another great year in the regional 2022 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. In all, 57 junior high and high school students were awarded gold and silver keys and honorable mentions by the regional 2022 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program.

In January's short term, high school students have explored career options in software design, urban planning, and sustainability, through courses taught by professionals. The instructors include alumni and parent volunteers through the Paideia Entrepreneurial Network.

A search committee will conduct a national search for the next head of school. Paideia is celebrating 50 years and completing a campaign to expand and enhance academic programs and teaching spaces.

High School Robotics Team Wins Tournament One of four Paideia high school robotics teams won the NCCA VEX VRC Tipping Point Qualifier Robotics Tournament in Covington. A member of the ninth-grade team qualified for the state championship in the robot skills competition.

Junior high homebase teacher Elly Bookman has a poem published in The New Yorker magazine's Dec. 27, 2021 issue. The poem entitled "Darkness" is Elly's third poem to be published in the magazine. Read all of Elly's poetry published in the magazine.

Our two high school Academic Bowl teams are nationally ranked among 250 teams in the National Quiz Bowl rankings. Team A is ranked no. 61 and Team B is ranked No. 184. Paideia is ranked fourth in Georgia and is one of only four schools in Georgia with two nationally-ranked teams.

At the 6th Annual AP Biology Poster Session, AP students presented research via a professional poster session, graded by members of the Atlanta scientific community (incl. Paideia alums). Students spoke about research in areas: metabolism, photosynthesis, and cellular respiration

Over 50 parent volunteers helped clear overgrowth from the area outside two elementary classrooms making for new outdoor class spaces. Earlier Georgia Tech researchers removed a yellow jackets' nest. Students helped spread woodchips donated by parents. #paideiaurbanag

The Paideia elementary began Food Equity And Sustainability Together (F.E.A.S.T.), a variety of programs and opportunities that connect students with Paideia's urban agriculture program's community partners and addresses food inequalities and social justice.

Diversity speaker and trainer Rosetta Lee spoke at Paideia high school during A Day of Dialogue, a day-long program where students discussed issues involving diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Kwame Mbalia’s book “Tristan Punches a Hole in the Sky” was one of two summer community read choices for the junior high. Mr. Mbalia recently addressed the entire junior high in a Zoom presentation in a discussion of his book.

Paideia's athletic director Mike Emery was named Athletic Director of the Year for Region 2-A Private by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association.
