Today, after 3 whole years of drought and dead ends, I got my first post-MFA short story acceptance from a beautiful little lit mag that I love. The fullness I feel right now is 100% thanks to the homies who held me and my work up this whole time I've been feeling so adrift. 😭💜

Hate to be translating and come across an idea or image my brain can immediately name in AAVE, but the characters aren't Black, so I have to dig around my memory/dictionary for an alternative only to land on a non-Black way to describe the thing that feels so DRY in comparison.
