In order to build a tradition, someone has to start it. Big congratulations to freshman Makayla Rivera on being the first Owl to leave their mark on the state placer wall. Makayla placed second at 235lbs at the first ever KSHSAA Girls’ State meet in February. Great job kid!!

The wrestlers cooked this all up themselves. We’ve had the same bus driver all year long. He’s great, and always takes great care of us. Our wrestlers made sure to thank him for our final trip of the season with a card and small gift. Our future is in good hands.

Owls grind out a tough 17th-place finish at a very competitive, out of state tournament. Lots of guys wrestling in only their 2nd varsity tourney. 25 teams, 3 states, most guys getting 6-8 matches. That is exactly what we needed. This weekend will pay off in February.

We have definitely grown. Two years ago (couldn’t go last year due to Covid), last Harrisonville, we had one gold bracket qualifier, zero medalists, and finished 17th as a team. This year we had 6 guys qualify to the gold brackets, 3 medalists, and placed 6th as a team.
