With all due respect, I think the person or party that called the police to begin with should have been prepared to meet with the officer first so he can be looped in. And maybe reaching out to a different support system before opting for an authority figure with guns if he's already in the house waving the knife. They called the cops because they felt threatened and wanted the cops to come and take his ass away. Dang, lack of courage and communication is how I see it.
