Anyway, I spent the entire flight answering questions like: “i can’t see anything outside the window, can the pilot see?” “why is the plane not straight?” “what are those lines?” “do clouds die?” “how many hours would it be if we went by land?” “are we there yet?”

@alexdimitrov It’s perhaps obvious that what you experienced as a child in 1980s Bulgaria is markedly different from what we’re experiencing as middle-aged poets living in the bastions of coastal elitism in the US. Fascism and its beginnings will present differently in different contexts.
