I've been lucky to work with formerly homeless people at the end of their lives who were given homes after their terminal diagnosis. In one case, my hospice client actually didn't die -- he made a remarkable recovery. Housing the homeless can be transformative:

Dark days in Alaska, but they aren't getting enough attention. This thread is worth a read, especially for those connected to public education, which is most of us
we live in a red state in which Republicans just dismantled state university education. it takes years to build the infrastructure for viable higher education and all that has been undone in two weeks. thousands will be fired and the rest will leave. this is seriously evil shit.

This 1000x. I worked with a downtown resident who speaks English, was given the link for vaccines by family doctor, but couldn't do it. He needed a supporter to walk him through it. We got it done. Patients need navigators.. that's what some children are doing for their parents!

No heat for prisoners is a crime.. there's also a much bigger crime. Prisons, in the US and elsewhere, are places we can toss people and not actually work on the systemic issues incarceration let's us conveniently ignore. We only notice when it really goes off the rails.
I am outside of the Metropolitan Detention Center where prisoners are without heat. The banging noise is them protesting for all of us to hear. They are without heat for days. This is in BROOKLYN.
