It was slow and not awesome - but it’s done and in the books!!!

Set the alarm a little earlier and get out and get it done before the rest of the day begins.

The last four work days have been long. Each night I’ve ended up in the hotel at about 8:00 pm short about 4-5K steps to hit my goal.
Going for a walk late when it’s the last thing you want to do sucks!
But it doesn’t suck as bad as not achieving the goal would! 😎👊😎
Knee still isn’t right, but it’s better than I thought.
Still able to limp around Cedar Falls and go to the football game!
Spending time with my wife is always special and awesome!

I travel a ton for work and have a tendency to rate the towns I stay in based on proximity of decent sidewalks / trails to my preferred hotel. Bonus points for either Panda Express or Chipotle nearby! Effingham, Illinois gets 5 stars!
I’m a pretty simple guy…
The sense of accomplishment of getting the run done before the day really gets started is great. But being able to see the majestic colors that can be created as the sun is just starting to rise is truly awesome!

When I started it was a sprinkle and when I was finishing it was a rain…
I proved once again that no matter sweet I am - I won’t melt.
Just me, my thoughts, a little Van Halen, a little U2, some Pink, and a smattering of Carrie Underwood - all in all a great start to the day!
Frankie says that since I spent time away from her this morning that I needed to spend some quality Puppy / Daddy nap time this afternoon. (I’m underneath the quilt behind her.)

Yesterday I took advantage of the rest day. I only got in 2,657 steps. I did get in my 25 PU's and 50 SU's. I also stayed under 2K calories.
Legs were pretty rough from the 15 miles, I had to drive about 450 miles, and the 95 degree heat all

Goals for the day were going to be 12K steps, eat 2K calories, 25 PU's, 50 SU's, and a 4 miler.
However, 2.08 miles into the 4 mile jog I felt a pop in my right knee. I managed to not fall on my face, but it wasn't great. I limped very slowly back to the hotel
Yesterday when I got up my knee wasn't good and I was pretty sure that it was really bad. By the end of the day it seemed to be a little better. It's still not right, but maybe better. Cautiously optimistic that this may have a happy ending...
Day 51 was a good day! 😎😎😎
258.8 this morning. A little step back from last week, but all things considered I'm pretty happy.
Yesterday I got in 12,613 steps, 25 PU's, 50 SU's, and stayed under 2K calories. Good to be back on track. Knee was good - we'll see how jogging goes.

I'm a little bummed this evening. This knee thing sucks, but I'll try to be patient until I learn something definitive.
That being said (no matter what) I've got an awesome life. I'll work through this whatever it is and come out the other side just fine. 😎🙏😎

Well, I got my 4 miles in. They were walked, but I’m okay with that. My goal is to not skip any days - if that means the miles get walked to get them in so be it.
And miles at 9,948’ are a little different than miles at 876’.

Went to the Iowa State Fair this evening. The puppy was pretty excited that we came home - she tends to forget that we were only gone for a couple of hours as opposed to weeks…

Yesterday I got in 30,660 steps, stayed under 2K calories, and got in the 15 miles.
The 15 miles were a slog, (I should change my name from OldFatJogger to OldFatSlowJogger), but I got them done.

Yesterday I got in 12,016 steps (paced in my hotel room until I got to 12K 😎), ate 2K calories, and got in my 4 miles.
Day 61 was a good day!
I’m choosing to look at the sky this morning and see beauty and promise! I’m going to try and do my part to make my day (and my week) as positive and as productive as I can!
Quick recap of the last month and my overall journey
July - Got in 390,677 steps, a total of 75.08 miles, and lost 12.9 pounds.
Since beginning (February 13) 1,971,471 steps, 114.14 miles, and lost 38.8 pounds.
Not there yet, but I'm pretty happy with the progress!

Yesterday I had 13,393 steps, 25 PU's, 50 SU's, and was under 2K calories.
I tried to jog in the evening and it went poorly. Walking is fine, but jogging isn't working out. I'll be fine - just a little frustrated.
Still Day 18 was a great day! 😎😎😎
This morning I was able to take a walk with Beth and the pups! Love them both tons - they’re my home. I’m probably extra appreciative since I’m heading back on the road next week!

Stayed under 2K calories and had my Dr. appt.
My knee has some fluid on it, but it was evidently just a strain. I can start easing back into training and running over the next week. Take it slow and be prepared to back things off if the pain returns.

A little nervous for how this is going to go, been having some knee pain, some Achille's pain, and some back pain...

Knee is feeling better but still certainly not right. Doctor appointment tomorrow to hopefully get some answers.

Got home from a 5 hour drive and didn’t quite have all my wanted steps in.
Saw this guy as I was out on my walk, may not be as cute as a deer or a bunny - but still cool in its own way!

Spent a fair amount of time this afternoon working on some household projects. While I was doing them, my wife was mowing the yard.

With it being National Dog Day, I would be remiss if I didn’t focus on the pups a little bit.
I had to head out of town for work, but I know she’s hanging at the house keeping Beth company. I’ll keep plugging away with the goal of eventually not having to leave.

I think that the pups missed me. You'd think that I just got back from a six month trip, when in reality I left on Monday! Oh well, it's good to be loved.
When I got home my wife was running errands - it'll be interesting to see if she gives me as much of a welcome.😎😎

She thinks she’s pretty tough when she’s stalking a squirrel, but I’m not sure if she actually caught one what she’d do!
Thankfully, I’m pretty sure we’ll never find out!

Yesterday I got in 13,062 steps - part of that was a 3 mile walk. Knee hurt just from the walk - which sucks. Leaning towards doing the 1/2 at Des Moines and then a December marathon in Florida. I'll decide for sure this week.

Hard to believe that this princess (that looks so sweet and innocent and that will sleep for about 18 hours today) gets so pumped up for her morning walk!
The pets heard that it was a test day for marathon training so they’re taking full advantage of it.

I did it! Survived the 6 miles—feeling HAPPY and BLESSED! 🎉 The run went really well. I know there's still a long way to go, but today was a big win.

Goals for the day are to get in 10K steps, 25 PU's, 50 SU's, and eat 2K calories.
Need to stay incredibly focused on the weight loss - every pound will make the long runs easier. I can relax a little once I crack 240.
It’s good to be home! Freddy seems content curled up in my lap, Frankie napped in my office all day, and it’s awesome to relax on the couch next to my wife!

August - got in 467,464 steps, a total of 120.78 miles, and down (only) 5.4 pounds
Since starting (Feb. 13) 2,439,205 steps, 234.92 miles, and 44.2 pounds
I'm not there yet, currently have a knee issue, but I still feel like I'm winning!

Here’s my household’s version of pets fighting like cats and dogs! The only disagreement is when one of the has to shift to get more comfortable.

Evidently I made a little too much noise when I was getting ready to go for my run. The dog and the cat woke up and insisted on their morning walk and breakfast before the run!
On the run I saw some of the neighbors up and moving around!

Should have gotten more steps earlier - to get to 10K I took a rather hot and muggy walk.
