How many still address their High School Coach as Coach. I am 59 years old and I will never address any of my coaches other than Coach. Been in this business 37 years and he is still one of the men I respect the most.

After 39 years of getting up every morning and doing what I love it’s time to be O-Paw and put up my whistle. Thanks Basketball for all the good times and bad times. To all the guys that I had the honor to coach THANK YOU. To all the guys that worked with me THANKS. Retirement.
My father has been put in hospice I don’t usually put my personal life out here but my dad has touched so many people I felt it appropriate to do this at this time. He is ready to meet his lord and savior and that gives me so much peace in my heart.
This guy will always be my hero. My dad is 84 and sometimes he may not think clearly but he loves to still come to watch kids play and me coach. Still giving me advice.
I just was a part of something that can only be called Magic and the will to never give in. We were down 15 pts with 2:14 to go in the game and won with three Ft with 0.4 seconds left. We scored 18 pts in 2:14 left and scored 32,pts in the qtr. Unreal win.
Social distancing doesn’t mean you can’t get back to the days when you found a goal and a ball and won the state championship a thousand times. I never lost.

My Father passed away at 8:14 this morning quietly and without pain. He waited until Skyler came in from Europe. He had said all his good byes and left this earth. Funeral will be Tuesday at 1 at Heaths Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11-1 and funeral right afterwards.
You never know who you will meet on the golf course. Met Austin Reaves today last time I saw him we were at the Barry Pruitt tourney. What a inspiration to all kids and especially kids that play at the smaller schools. He will never forget where he came from.
This young fella turns 33 today. One scholarship offer out of high school and turns it into a 11 year pro career in Europe. Happy Birthday Son. Love you .
As a Head Coach for many years there are lessons to be learned and some are harder than others. 1. Be your own man. 2. Do it your way no matter how others think it should go. 3. Give credit to the players and assistants. 4. Get rid of the garbage. 5. Your family loves u no matter
My dads 85th Birthday Party. I have been so blessed to be able to have him all this time. He still wants to talk basketball every time I come home. Love this guy.
For all the people who appreciate old school. This is Timbo High School Gym. It was built in 1963 and they still play their games in it. It’s a beautiful gym and if only that building could talk.
So Thankful for these people. My dad who hadn’t played pool in six years is now playing two days a week and has gained 18 pounds and my mom got a clean bill of health after beating cancer.
I am very excited about getting to sit on the bench one more time at the All-Star game this weekend at Conway. My last game as a player was in the All-Star game and my last one as a coach will be there.

I just talked to one of the EMT that was with Layton. Thru all the pain and misery in the ambulance he yelled at the driver to turn the radio on and wanted to hear the rest of the game. Now!!! That my friends is a teammates worried about his team and not his leg.
Had a short practice and had some pizza and cupcakes afterwards. Sometimes you have to just hangout and let them you know you just care about them. It’s not always what they can do for you but what you can do for them. Little things matter.
This is what winning conference looks like to a group of young fellas that had not done it in 10 years. So proud of all of them believing the process. Lots of work still ahead.
I just got off the phone with Layton’s mother. The surgeon assured Layton that his injury was not going to be a career ending injury. He will rehab for 2-4 months and be good as new. Sometimes we don’t always understand and we ask why these things happen.
I normally don’t put myself out here but I hope that coaches and players are wearing your mask and following protocol. I have had the virus going on ten days and it has been a emotional rollercoaster I have experienced every system that I know of.
Skyler was just named Defensive player of the Year in the Danish League. There is still a place for guys who play both ends. Proud Pops your grandad is smiling.
Merry Christmas to the over 4000 young men I have had the honor of coaching in my 39 years. I hope and pray that all of you are well and being great husbands, dads and workers. All of you have made a impact on this old coach. Love each and everyone of you.
Happy Anniversary to these wonderful lady who has been the perfect coaches wife. She has been the rock and my best friend thru every loss and every win and always held me to the standard I needed to be. Love you Kat
We need to remember as leaders of people that the player at the end of the bench will be a leader, a husband and dad someday as well. Teach them all with energy and passion.
Conference Champs second year in a row. We beat Tuckerman 41-39. Layton Hennings made a 14 footer as time expired. It was a grinder and these guys keep getting better. So proud of them and what they have had to overcome this year to become champs. These guys are 23-3 in conf play
Coaching my first 7th grade game this morning in 25 years. I am nervous as I have ever been. The game is the same no matter the grade.
#rimstenfoothigh
Beat Mt.View 51-43 ended the Regular at 17-9 and 11-3 in conference and conference champs for the first time in ten years. I am very proud of this team and the effort and commitment they showed all year to getting better. Now the third part of the year begins.

The longer I stay in coaching the more I appreciate the journey as much as the destination. This has been a year that no Coach, Parent or Player will ever forget. This year has not been so much about the wins and losses but the hardships that we have all overcome. I am blessed.
Very proud of this team and it’s growth finish up at 18-11. Earle beat us 50-46 and just like that the season is over. Tough pill to swallow but I watched a bunch of guys that’s thought they could that did.

Who would have thunk it. I was one of the Refs in Greene Co Techs game last night. It was good to see those boys in the Greene and Gold. Still play tough and know how to play.
Going into year 39 as a Head Coach I think what the Janitor, Team Bus Driver and Secretary say about our team and Coaches reflects on what your culture really is.

We have two choices in our life either get in the Arena and get knocked down or go sit in the stands and be the one that talk about the ones brave enough to get up and do it again.
Day 15 of Covid that sucker has put me thru the ringer but my body along with prayer and a loving wife made a play in the fourth. It’s a experience that most never go thru with having it. For the ones that do have to battle just make a play at the end. You will win every time.
So proud of our guys today we beat BIC 55-45 survive and advance. So proud of these dudes. They gave me everything they had. Play Saturday at 1 against caddo Hills.
What a great end to a conference season. These guys went from worst to first by beating Salem on the Road 59-54. We are 16-9 and 11-3 in conference. We have Senior night next Thursday against Mt View. So proud these guys bought in.

I want to wish this beautiful lady I get to call my wife Happy Birthday. Being a Coaches wife is hard and frustrating at times but she always has stood beside me and guided me with her love and friendship. Love you babe.
I am so proud of our guys got beat by Vilonia last night 41-36 we only have five guys but they are giving me all they have. Playing our third 5-A team Thursday night. Let’s gooooooo.
We have had four guys in the gym this morning before 9 am getting shots up. Amazing how this team has matured and recognize it’s about the guy beside them and what’s on the front of their jersey. The hardest thing in sports is to give yourself up to a bigger purpose than yourself
I am so proud of this young guy. The critics always said he was to slow he couldn’t jump high enough and overall just was not athletic enough. What they would not admit was he just won at the biggest stage all the time. Good luck TP at your next stop. Keep proving them wrong.
In all my years of doing what I love I have never been prouder of a bunch of young fellas that gave me everything they have. We fell short to Caddo Hills 40-31. We will have a very good nucleus coming back and we are not thru with what our goals are. Just the starts of hoops here
What a great night for our Katz and Lady Katz. District tourney Champs for the second year in a row. Last two opponents have been held to 41 and 42 points. So proud of our intensity on defense and sharing the ball on offense. Play Wednesday night in regionals at White Co. Katz Up
To my five seniors I say Thank You. You went beyond what many thought could be done in such a short time. You have set the standard that is now set here for Melbourne boys basketball. I love you guys.
I normally would not share something like this because I consider it personal but I got this short note from a older coach like myself that has been thru a whole lot of worse things in life than I have. This guy is a man of integrity and has the heart of a Lion.

Where has time gone. So proud to have been able to play at the same High school and dad and son both be voted MVP of state tournament 28 years apart.

I have had the privilege of spending nearly sixty years with these two. They have seen many changes and they both told me they would not change a thing.
Big Shout out to the Melbourne lady Bearkatz as the go for their third trip to the finals and third ring. It has been very refreshing to see these girls hard work they have put in. Go get it. Hard work still matters.
