Did you know the RCMP has an Underwater Recovery Team, also known as the Dive Team? This specialized team provides underwater recovery services across the entire province. The RCMP is one of only two police agencies in the province with this capability—and the largest. The Dive Team is just one of the 150 career opportunities available within the RCMP. Pictured here is Sgt. Beaulieu from our Traffic team, who also serves on the Dive Team. #JoinOurTeam

A suspect wanted on several Canada-wide warrants has been arrested after a report of 2 people gaining entry into a parking lot. Prior to arrest the suspect provided a false name and then led officers on a foot pursuit. Two officers were injured during the arrest, one requiring hospitalizing and stitches. This is another reminder of the risk our officers face each day to serve and protect the citizens of #NorthVan. Link to release:

Today marks the official kickoff of the Invictus Games, being held in Vancouver for the first time! Yesterday, two of our officers performed Red Serge duties at the Friends and Family party for the athletes. This international multi-sport event, first held in 2014, brings together wounded, injured, and sick military service personnel from around the world. Over the next two weeks, Vancouver will host these inspiring competitors as they showcase resilience, determination, and the power of sport in recovery.

No snow days for first responders! Recently, we responded to a person in distress and found an individual who was hypothermic and seeking shelter in a garage. While our officers provided care, someone had to grab a shovel—so, naturally, the rookie got the job! They cleared a path on the steep driveway to ensure @BC_EHS could safely extract the man for transport. Teamwork makes the dream work!

This afternoon, we set up a roadblock on the Mountain Highway off-ramp, stopping vehicles that had snow on top of their vehicles. In just an hour, we pulled over about 45 drivers, gave them a friendly warning, and even lent them a brush to clear off their frosty rooftops. Friendly reminder: Leaving snow on your vehicle—including the windshield, windows, and roof—isn’t just a bad look, it’s a hazard for everyone on the road. Oh, and it could also land you a $173 fine. So, let’s keep it clean out there!

Important things to keep in mind for your morning commute. 🚗 If you must drive, give yourself extra time⌚️. Clear any snow off your vehicle before driving - our officers will be checking for compliance. Lastly, do not pass snow clearing vehicles❄️ #bcstorm #NorthVan #wegotthis

PSA: Remember folks, your car isn't a snowmobile, so give it a good 'snow spa' before hitting the road! That means: clearing off your windshield, windows, and even the roof! Nobody wants a snow surprise mid-drive! Trust us, a $109 fine and 3 points aren't the kind of snowflakes you want falling on your commute. And if you’re still unsure of how to clear the snow off your vehicle, refer to the above picture. Stay safe out there!

This morning, our Youth Support Team officers visited Braemar Elementary School for a surprise safety enforcement. We were delighted to catch parents using the correct drop-off zones and students sticking to the marked crosswalks—gold stars all around! A few young fans even asked us for stickers, and, well, who could say no to that?
