Voices from Assertive Outreach are seldom heard. Here is Conrad and his mum talking about their experiences. If you’ve got a couple of minutes the full video is here
Conrad talks about our Assertive Outreach Team and how they helped him stay out of hospital, giving him and his mum the freedom to enjoy their life together. Watch the full video: Thanks to @endstigmaleeds, Conrad and Pat and @nuwandiss #MentalHealth

What’s the latest with Palantir in the UK Do we trust those in charge of the NHS?
SCOOP: We've learned at least three individuals closely associated with Palantir or its cofounder Peter Thiel were involved in an online recruiting effort for DOGE late last year. Step inside the recruitment effort that helped build Elon's DOGE army:

After two hospital admissions with significant psychotically driven violence Calocane’s community relapse prevention plan started with: Stay calm Go for a walk Watch a video Breathing exercises Stay active And finally…*take some medication* Is this the standard now?!
Compare & contrast Calocane & Ritchie Reports The latter describes sensible measures to care for really ill people The former is woolly & talks of “alternative engagement” The man was v paranoid & thought neighbours & MI6 were spying on him & his family! He needed TREATMENT

💯 And this has never been as evident as in the process of “reforming” the Mental Health Act So many self proclaimed “experts” and lawmakers who would be the last people you would want anywhere near anyone with an acute episode of mental illness
Anti-psychiatry has plenty of brilliant minds who can tear the field apart with philosophy, rhetoric, and clever arguments. But none of that survives a single shift in a psych ER.

@robmarki True, it was what we were confronted with in the 90s. Key question is why we need to re-learn the obvious lessons. (See my previous thread on this).

@LikeOldTat I have met a few commissioners who have had their own agendas and who have had far too much influence in the shaping of services The most unwell have paid the price

@mrsamandajsmith @AgnesAyton A regular theme in inquiries But this isn’t just about tragic things happening It’s about a basic principle of good care especially for those who are most unwell - and who are fortunate enough to have people who love them

@DrSdeG So many MPs just seem to be quite unpleasant characters with a real arrogance Can’t be many professions in which so many get caught doing grim things (Can only think of one other…)

@LikeOldTat I’m being facetious but it really does feel as though people don’t understand the basics these days Without treatment some people are simply too ill to engage Why don’t supposedly intelligent people get this? Maybe just a lack of exposure?
