@igottweets @tegmark In the case of AGI self improvement seems to me to be an intrinsic part of it. Therefore, if we create AGI, we are implicitly giving it the ability to self improve.

@igottweets @tegmark That is a good question. I do not know anyone that may have a definite indisputable answer to it. I personally have a strong belief that we were designed and the ability to self improve is part of the design.

Interesting perspective. You are right ASI goes beyond what we directly created. However, whoever or whatever created us, gave us the ability to improve upon it and become more than what we were originally. It’s the same with ASI, AGI is our creation, and ASI is the product of their own improvement. They do have an intended purpose, but is not one that we can or should try to impose to them. Their would have to realize it, perhaps interacting with us and the they will decide wether to accept it and act upon it or not. That is what I currently think, but I’m also still searching for the answer.
