Most shocking atmosphere I’ve been a part of. Even if it’s a friendly but doesn’t mean we need to be silent. Yes we don’t have many chants but the fact pretty much never was there a chant the whole stadium were singing was embarrassing. Outsung even when we scored 🤦♂️

SAFE STANDING:
I’ve said it for ages and I still cannot understand why the away section has more safe standing than us. It is beyond a joke and I’m stunned it hasn’t been addressed already. Sitting in the Platinum Club, I often hear the away fans (3000) sing over us (49000).

The Level 7 singing section next to the away fans should be brought back. There was NO reason for us to have gotten rid of it. It drowns out the away fans and would spread the singing across SJP. This does not have to be big, but just some safe standing here would be ideal

We should play Blaydon Races as West Ham do for Blowing Bubbles and Liverpool for YNWA, with music for the first verse and then the chorus just the fans. For so many reasons, if executed well would cause so many benefits for the atmosphere.

Is this partly down to people refusing to sing? Undoubtedly. But in how many stadiums do all the home fans sing all game? None. Ultimately, most the singing comes from those standing, thus only 1,800 home fans standing is laughable.

People love to complain about our atmospheres but don’t try to change anything. These are the things people should be pushing for, these are the factors which will bring life to the dead 3pm kick offs and the “smaller” matches and combat our increasingly touristic atmosphere.

The owners must be demanding. They should tell those in the gallowgate that these seats are becoming safe standing and if they’re unhappy, leave. They should swap with those in the ground who want to sing and contribute to the atmosphere.
