There's always a concern of tracking colors through locations, so we had to make sure that each area has distinct color profiles, especially when you're cutting between storylines.

Study first, then concept.
Often in Animation Design, you'll come across something you've never made before. Make it easy on yourself. Study the thing, then tweak it.
Keep tweaking until your concept feels original.

, figuring out what the color palette for a snow-covered NYC would be on this show.
I definitely miss working on that show; it was one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences I've had working in Animation.

Loved workin on this one (somewhere in Feb 2019).
I remember bashing my head on the wall trying to figure out the colors for this one (as usual), especially knowing snow would be the dominating factor.

When the dust settled after the fight, we sucked that the color outta the sky and the city and left it gray.
I loved that shot of the moon hangin low in the sky. Looking back is bittersweet.
Not long after we'd find that our show would be coming to an early end...

Yo that's lookin great! I painted that BG too!
When I'm painting, I usually break it up into stages.
1. Block in values
2. Lay in colors
3. Light the set
4. Add texture/fx
5. Final touches
That way you can focus on one task and save time.
Would love to see the final!
