Update on the origin of the contigs I'm working with - they aren't from algal organelles, a suspicion I was considering given the unusual nature of this genome assembly. The light-orange dots are putative organelle genomes. This analysis gets more and more promising by the day!

Ten days later - I was able to decipher what contigs are coming from what using BLAST - this result is pretty interesting because some algae sequences in NCBI are clustering with the bacteria (probably not what we are looking for) - big implications for algal databases 👀

@DavidQuammen curious to see other's opinion, but I would contend that the public deserves more choice than what is present in American democracy atm. Kamala Harris' bid for president isn't born from the public's apathy or rancor, right?
