⚡️BREAKING: Press Statement Issued by the Prisoners Information Office While the Israeli occupation continues its crimes against Palestinian prisoners inside its detention centers, the double standards of the international community in addressing the issue of prisoners are once again exposed. When prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid and dozens of other detainees died as a result of deliberate medical negligence, the world did not move, and no condemnations or calls for accountability were made. When hundreds of Palestinian prisoners left Israeli jails with permanent disabilities, broken physically and psychologically after years of torture and abuse, there was no international outcry or human rights condemnation. But today, suddenly, the world breaks its silence because three occupation prisoners held by the resistance lost a few kilograms of weight due to the Israeli blockade on Gaza. It is as if humanity is now tailored to the identity of the victim, as if suffering only matters when the affected party belongs to a particular side. Where was this uproar when the occupation’s cells turned into human slaughterhouses? Where was this outrage when Palestinian prisoners emerged from detention as mere shadows of their former selves, deprived of food, medicine, and even the most basic human rights? We at the Prisoners Information Office affirm that this international hypocrisy and disregard for the occupation’s crimes give it a green light to continue its violations against our prisoners and people. We warn that continued silence on these crimes will lead to further escalation. The rights of Palestinian prisoners are not a marginal issue, and their suffering will not be erased by the silence of international institutions or the complicity of the global community with the occupier. We demand that human rights and humanitarian organizations step out of their complicity and bias and assume their moral and legal responsibilities in confronting these crimes. Otherwise, this world, which claims to uphold justice and humanity, will once again prove to be nothing more than a stage for political interests that justify killing, oppression, and humiliation, as long as the victim is Palestinian.
