@AleResnik *you can also have currency devaluations without change in monetary policy, but that is also atypical. eg. increasing the regulatory burden on business is a form of tariff (a tariff without government profit - terrible) that devalues a currency without touching monetary policy.

@dgt10011 @garrytan No because stock prices are expectations of growth, and if growth decreases, the expectation decreases. Sure the company will continue growing more slowly (hopefully) but the current-day prices should (in theory) tumble.

@typesfaster @garrytan There are secondary effects where a lower headcount may be more productive and thus help the economy. But probably that’s too nuanced.
