I actually wrote my thesis on this. On average, after a 10 year career, catchers have significantly healthier knees than other positions. Squats decrease knee laxity and strengthen muscles around the joint. We were born to squat!
I might be the former catcher outlier but surprisingly I have great knees... shoulders are a whole new animal though
