Changing of the Guard
@niagaracatholic
Thank you Director Crocco for your 35 years in Catholic Education and for the last 12 years leading the staff and students in the region. You will be missed!

Good morning! We don't normally post when it's a regular day, but it's been an extraordinary couple of weeks. All schools are OPEN today, and buses are running. High school students - welcome to Semester 2! Have a fantastic Friday, everyone!
Mother Nature 2 - Back to School - 0. All schools and sites are closed due to poor conditions on Niagara's roads and sidewalks. Asynchronous learning is available for those who want it. Otherwise, enjoy the bonus day and we look forward to seeing you back at school Wednesday!
2/2 As a community, it is OK to disagree, but a call to violence against someone who has dedicated a year of their life to keeping people safe is not. We're all tired, but we MUST do better. The only way to come through
#COVID19
is by doing it together.
#IStandWithDrHirji
You may have heard that the Niagara Vaccine Task Force has prioritized education workers for vaccines next week, during the school break. With the protocols that have been in place all year, our schools and workplaces are already safe. This will make them safer. Thank you!
The threats of violence against

@NRPublicHealth
are shocking and shameful. The difficult decisions we make as a school board are NOTHING compared to the decisions he makes every day for the safety of the entire Niagara Community 1/2
All Niagara Catholic schools and sites are closed for today (Jan. 17) due to inclement weather. This includes the Virtual Elementary School. If you must travel, please stay safe.

There is little we can do from here in Niagara but wish our heartfelt condolences to those who lost loved ones in
#Toronto
today, and our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by such a senseless tragedy.
School buses are cancelled for today, & secondary exams scheduled for today will take place tomorrow. All schools are open & parents of elementary students are reminded that they must report their child's absence using the Safe Arrival system if they choose to keep kids home.
This final week of the school year begins on a sad note, as we recognize the loss of
@MotherTeresaSC
student Abigel Dolmanyos after a courageous battle with cancer. Please pray for her family and the school community during this difficult time.
The Niagara Catholic District School Board shares the pain of the students and staff in our sister board
@DPCDSBSchools
on the tragic loss of Emily Viegas to

and offers our prayers to Emily's family and her school community as they grieve.

We’re hearing there is an internet outage in parts of Niagara for
@cogeco
customers. Not much we can do when big servers go down. It doesn’t seem to be everywhere, but we’re hearing from lots of frustrated folks. Sorry, this is beyond our control.

Today, we remember these children, who died far away from their loving families and until last week had all but been forgotten by Canada. This week, we honor their lives. Our tears give their spirits the ability to travel the spirit world knowing they are remembered and loved.
Today our flags are lowered in memory of the 215 Indigenous children whose remains were found in British Columbia at a former residential school.

Please keep the Di Tomasso family and the

family in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve the death of Angelica, a Grade 11 student at the school. May her family and all who loved her take comfort in knowing she is safe in the arms of the Lord.

Niagara Catholic schools are not affected by today's provincial announcement and will continue to stick with the Jan. 10 reopening schedule. We will share any additional information with families and staff as it becomes available. Thanks for your patience.
Good morning! We don't normally do this when it's regular school day, but it's been a bit of a strange time, so we want everyone to know schools are open and buses are running today. Have a great day, everyone!
Good morning:
We have sad news for you this beautiful weekend, which we share with the permission of her family.

We have come far, but we have far to go. There is much work to be done, and it is ALL of our work to do. We lead in some places; lag in others. We march on. Let's celebrate today's strong women leaders and create new ones for the future.

Greetings from the Niagara Catholic Storm Desk, which I had not yet planned on staffing just yet, but it seems Mother Nature has other plans so I've set up camp. Oh, snow, here we go!
We've had a number of questions…
Fr. Rico Passero from St. Joseph parish in Grimsby did this today. ❤️ it.
Coronavirus doesn't scare our St. Joseph Grimsby parish from praying!
While we cannot join at the altar physically - I have taken this…
ICYMI the first time around, we are very pleased to advise families that tomorrow will be a regular school day! Thank you to the government, Council of Trustees' Associations and
