@jscarto It makes me wonder about sun/sensor geometry or other potential confounders (unrelated to actual vegetation).

Parameters for LOESS come from @knmi (TR389) and I've tuned P-splines to more or less match that. (Operational use of P-splines in this context can be simplified to a Whittaker smoother leaving the lambda parameter as the only required parameter)

@BobCamp98037846 @PGDynes @PGDynes isn't very clear in his post, and some citations would help. I assume he's mentioning a daily (or seasonal) average. The instantaneous optimum leaf temperature is obviously much higher, closer to 30°C for most species. And dependent on acclimation (acute vs constant).
