I am deeply saddened by the tragic fuel tanker accident and explosion that occurred on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Ugwu Onyeama in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, leading to the loss of lives, destruction of homes, and devastation of businesses. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the tragic tanker explosion at Dikko Junction, Gurara LGA, Niger State, which claimed over 80 lives. On the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I visited the scene along with the Minister of Information and National Orientation, @HMMohammedIdris met with survivors, and conveyed the President's deepest condolences to the Emir of Suleja and the affected families. We commend the swift response of the Niger State Government, emergency responders, and community members whose courage saved lives. The Federal Government is providing immediate medical support through the Ministry of Health, humanitarian response to the families, and taking steps to enhance road safety and prevent future tragedies.
