A new report from @WWF, Climate Focus and Trillion Trees finds that while forests can play a critical role in meeting #ParisAgreement targets, more can be done to incorporate them into #NDCs. ✅ Less than half of assessed NDCs set a forest-specific mitigation target ✅ Only 4% reference deforestation- and conversion-free production ✅ Many #MRV sections make no reference to forests Join a webinar with experts and policymakers on strengthening forest commitments ahead of #COP30: 📅 11 Feb. 🕘 9:30-10:30 a.m. CET and 4-5 p.m. CET 📍Online Register here ➡️

🇷🇼 Rwanda is taking steps to access climate finance. 🌍 Although Africa is at the forefront of the climate crisis, it receives just 3.3% of global #ClimateFinance flows — significantly less than required. Closing this gap is crucial to meeting national targets and delivering on the #ParisAgreement. At a Center for Access to Climate Finance peer exchange in Kigali, #Rwanda showcased how it applies innovative approaches to tackle climate finance challenges: ✅ Transitioning from project-based funding toward programmatic approaches within its Green Growth and Climate Resilience Strategy ✅ Ensuring 80% of project funding is managed by local governments to align with local priorities ✅ Mobilizing large-scale finance through integrated initiatives, supported by the European Union, @WorldBank, Germany and Sweden, among others. In developing its NDC Partner Support Coordination Plan, 🇦🇲 Armenia has established a comprehensive roadmap to implement over 200 NDC-aligned climate measures aligned with its NDC. Developed with support from the NDC Partnership, the plan will guide coordinated NDC implementation across climate-vulnerable sectors like water, agriculture, health, energy, tourism, ecosystems and infrastructure. In collaboration with the @CentralBankofRA and with the support of the @EIB's green bond frameworks, Armenia seeks to mobilize climate finance to address these priority areas. “Armenia is fully committed to addressing climate change impacts and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as outlined in our national climate policies and international agreements,” says Armenia’s Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan. #FoodSystems contribute to nearly one-third of all GHG emissions and 60% of biodiversity loss over the past 50 years. Transforming these systems is critical to achieving climate resilience and ensuring sustainable development. Integrating food systems into #NDCs allows countries to make agriculture and food systems more efficient, climate-resilient and less emissions-intensive. Developing countries are increasingly seeking technical and financial support from the NDC Partnership to enhance their climate actions focused on food systems. Some emerging trends include: ✅ Nearly half of the countries requesting support from the NDC Partnership have food-related priorities. ✅ Key areas needing support include Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems, capacity-building and bankable project development. ✅ A lack of universal definitions for food systems and limited tailored financing are significant barriers. Learn more about the NDC Partnership support trends related to food systems ➡️ @WWF @ClimateFocus
