On Abnormal Summit,
#Yuta
said that Japan should keep apologizing for Imperialism atrocities until Korea accepts that apology.
Many youth in Japan don’t know about what this country has done to the full extent, but Yuta HIMSELF has taken this stance publicly.

I don’t think people outside of Japan realize how awful this situation is.
Practically everything is closed today. Everyone is home with their families. The news is so delayed. Emergency response is delayed or impossible to reach.
People aren’t getting needed information.
Also remember that the audience of Yuta At Home is Japanese. So when he says something *in Japanese* that has a different meaning in Japanese than another cultures interpretation of it, it’s not his responsibility to use other words or make you understand.

I FEEL THIS. Almost one year ago I was at a 127 fanmeeting here in Japan. I’m one of maybe 3 visibly foreign girls surrounded by Japanese and Korean fans. I was in the back on a barricade and he took the time to single me out and speak to me in English. I will never forget that.
@Hoe_Kickrocks
It’s quite courageous to come at a whole community who would probably love to make sure your university knows you’re tweeting hate speech.
Other than Yuta’s radio show, domestically in Japan there have been a lot of
#Loveholic
promotions. BUT if you don’t live in Japan you’re not going to see it since you aren’t the target demographic.
Here are emails from online stores, magazines featuring NCT, & TV appearance:
TO ADD since so many of y’all don’t know the full story. Yuta started making Japanese friends in KR recently because he’s homesick.
He recently met this guy (we weren’t told how) and it’s COMPLETELY LIKELY he knew nothing about his twisted views that he put on youtube.
@Hoe_Kickrocks
Not to mention you have no business being a psychologist if you have these kinds of views. Literally conflicts with your oath to patients.
If you post that Yuta should kill himself, you’re a fucking asshole. You need to go get psychological help.
Idols go through enough without you telling them to off themselves.

Smart concert going for outdoor venues is knowing that there is always a chance to be rescheduled for bad weather.
Sorry for your daughter, but all jobs deserve to be done in safe conditions and that extends to Taylor and her team.
This post is so tone deaf and selfish.
I also think that Yuta and SM should prepare something to clear this up. He needs to tell people he didn’t know the asshole was like that and does not agree with him.
@Hoe_Kickrocks
I’m not the kind of person to doxx, I think it’s illegal bullshit. But it literally took me 5 minutes to figure out your first and last name from your profile. If you’re going to spew hate know that there are people who will doxx you and ruin your life.
Not to mention the parents who continued to hunt down these girls trying to force them to sign agreements.
Or the police officer who told them to their face that they “muddied the reputation of Miryang.”
As well as asking questions like “you seduced them?”
Disgusting.
A S. Korean YouTuber is going viral for bringing attention to the horrific Miryang gang rape case from 2004, involving at least 44 high school boys in assaulting several school girls. He claims to have identified some of the now-adult perpetrators and is exposing them one by one.
I’m going to need white men who got PR simply on the basis of marrying a Japanese woman to sit down. It is NOT easy to get PR in Japan and stop perpetuating the lie that it is.
@JAYBUMAOM
Tbh the US shouldn’t even be open yet with delta variant spreading like it is. Korea is going to experience a lot less pointless deaths. Especially with the young & vulnerable. We should not be having concerts yet.
You are coming into the Japanese space and you either need to wait for a translation or refrain from making ignorant remarks due to you not understanding the nuances of the language.
Just to point out how much of a non issue this is compared to say ✨CHIKAN ✨, only about 13,000 illegal immigrants were found in 2021. In a population of 125 MILLION.
Let’s discriminate against foreigners in Japan and waste public resources that could be spent on REAL problems.
Long evening out working, and this is what just greeted me upon returning to my home station. The video is maybe longer than it needed to be, as I just sort of froze there, taking in the subtext that my own neighbors are now being encouraged to be suspicious of me 😢
Saying it’s not enough, saying that Avex is doing a bad job. Your misunderstanding of promotional norms in Japan (especially given the current situation) is not their fault.
Japan is Japan. There’s a reason why most jpop isn’t international. Just not a priority for them.
It’s even more special when you learn Japanese and know it’s extremely rare for Japanese people to use it. Rather than saying ai, most people use suki which is like.
The fact that Yuta used ai is him trying to convey how deeply he cares about us.
ai means love. yuta calling us ai doesn’t feel like it’s a fandom name, it’s more of like an endearment. at least for me that’s how it’s like. nevertheless it’s cute and quite meaningful 🥺
People are being told to evacuate from the coasts because it might reach more than 5 meters but no one knows which roads are drivable. Trains and stations are shutdown.
Some of these areas affected are huge tourist areas with people who likely have no cars.
So terrible.
If you don’t live in Japan, you have NO right to criticize how good of a job the promotions here are. Especially when we’re in the middle of a pandemic and the group can’t physically be here to promote—which is the NORM in Japan.
Advertising in Japan isn’t like Korea. They’re not trying to really *find* a new audience. Their goal is to go after people who already are interested in pop/kpop. You’re not going to see street ads, etc right now.
Honestly it’s really offensive when you say it’s not enough.
It seriously pisses me off that as soon as he said it, I KNEW that people who don’t speak Japanese would make this incorrect assumption.
Hentai does not mean *hentai* in Japan. And most Japanese people don’t even make that connection. Many don’t even know what it means abroad.
It still says a lot to me that I posted this on my Japanese Twitter account and fans are like “I like that they stayed back, but it still would have been better if they didn’t go to the airport at all and disturb other passengers.”
Stan respectful fans. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Honestly, when you have only one member who speaks the language of the country you’re performing in—stand the fuck still and be respectful. At least pretend to listen since you can’t be bothered to study the language.
ANYWAY
Everyone’s talking about Oppenheimer and Japanese Revisionism right now and all I can think about is my student who learned in her class about Nagasaki/Hiroshima but her class was given 0 context at all about why it happened. They genuinely believe it was an unprovoked attack.
I’d like to be very clear that many of us weren’t “blindly following” Yuta yesterday. If you’re actually his fan you know what kind of character he has. He’s only ever been open with us. He’s more open about social issues and his views than most idols. We KNEW that ain’t him.
So funny. Looks like Japan is fired up over an old man swatting a woman with a newspaper. So painful she’s laughing. 😂
Coming from NYC, I prefer this “injustice” to the insanity you saw almost daily on the NYC subways. I feared for my safety more than a few times.
I really don’t get how people can say with their whole chest that the cost of living in Japan is affordable.
Literally EVERYTHING costs more for me here. My healthcare? More expensive. My rent? The same. My transportation? More than my car used to cost me. Food? Don’t start…

@AmbitiousSoul_
It was my birthday too. I was missing my family and I went to the event alone in a place I had never been before. It was kind of one of those defining moments where it made all my struggles living abroad worth it. 💚
2年前、スーツケース3つと夢を持って日本に来ました。 多くの変化があり、新しい友情が生まれ、新しい言語を学びました。感謝している。
Two years ago I moved to Japan. All I brought with me was 3 suitcases and a dream. Many changes, friendships made, and languages learned. So grateful.
From my Japanese friend: 「今回のあの場での"へんたい"は、軽く面白おかしい意味で、"へんな人みたい!"て意味だと思います…」
Rough English translation:
"Hentai" at that place this time has a light and funny meaning, and I think it means "like a strange person!"
Man it just must really suck for y’all to see Yuta becoming THE IT BOY with literally zero support from his company.
Cause you know what it means when they don’t promote his shit? It means he’s being recognized FOR HIS OWN SKILLS. HIS OWN MERIT.
I wish Japanese people knew that when they marry and have children with someone who is not a Japanese citizen they ARE subject to international laws.
INCLUDING not kidnapping a citizen (their child)
@kaisoolo
@SuperM_smtown
At this point I think it’s fair to say that if Kai was interested in doing a solo, he would do it. They’ve supported everyone else. If he isn’t doing it, it’s probably because he doesn’t want to.
I’m sorry but WHY the fuck would they produce a documentary for DISNEY JAPAN with the POV being someone NOT FLUENT IN JAPANESE??
Do you even have any idea the struggles Yuta went through to be the first Japanese idol at SM??
Do you understand the xenophobia he faces EVERY DAY?
Koreans- Seollal (설날) / Lunar New Year
Vietnamese- Tết Nguyên Đán / Lunar New Year
Japan- (sometimes celebrating lunisolar) shogatsu (正月) / Japanese New Year
Tibet / Nepal / Monpa / Bhutan - Losar (ལོ་གསར) Tibetan (Buddhist) New Year.
Not CNY everywhere.
Honestly I’m shocked it didn’t become
@blobyblo
’s life mission to track down the guy that punched him in the face. That’s the most surprising part of his story.
If you can’t understand there’s a difference between police investigating someone who seems VERY SUSPICIOUS and a regular fucking foreigner on the street, don’t bother engaging with this post.
@TheJose8A
I really don’t get how celebrities only get MORE famous here when they date, but get death threats, ostracized, and lose fans there.
#opparculture
@TheJessLyfe
I’m fine with people calling out Chen for what he said, because he did say it. But if you watch the video itself Xiumin straight up says he’s drawing a heart like D.O.’s lips. Don’t make someone into a racist, when they weren’t being one.
People expect kpop idols to know the story of every brand they wear down to no name brands.
Meanwhile, other idols can wear brands that exploit the poor in third world countries, or have problematic staff, and y’all don’t give a shit at all & cop it after you see them wear it.
@johngreen
I was in college when I read the majority of your books. The thing I liked about them was that they didn’t emphasize the immaturity of teens. They covered many facets of youth that most authors avoid because *too mature* of a topic for “kids.” 50 years ago we were adults in war.
You know, people in Japan wouldn’t have to be as concerned if there were places for people to shelter from the elements without paying money.
Like PLANTING TREES for shade, air conditioning public places like stations, or having covered benches for the elderly to rest.
