It is not a problem in the CFL that players are released to pursue NFL opportunities. It happens in dozens (if not 100’s) of leagues globally, where instead of making things about themselves, the fans celebrate the athlete’s opportunity and their development.

A university football team is an unbelievably tight knit group of young men. Often you show up on campus with no idea of what the “real world” entails. You grow up with those guys around you, you leave as men after 4+ years of lessons. To lose one, I can’t imagine the pain.
