Across the world, Chinese syndicates are trafficking innocent people to countries like Myanmar and Cambodia to work in scam centres. Once there, they are trapped, abused and coerced to catfish people online, day in and day out.

Ah, Philippine politics. 3 weeks before the elections, male presidential bets who have no chance to win the elections have “united” NOT to withdraw their candidacies… but to pull down the only woman candidate who is 2nd in surveys. NOT the frontrunner who is also… a man 👀

It's been 6 days since India cut off the internet to millions and arrested 100+ to catch a high-profile Sikh activist. No one's sure if he's dead or alive, captive or on the run. But his fate could trigger serious unrest in India. Here's what's going on 🧵1/12 #AmritpalSingh

I’m just going to leave this right here. Let’s all stay alert. Coronavirus could be used by authoritarian leaders as excuse to undermine democracy, experts warn. #coronavirus

Ligaya Portajada’s husband was a labour activist allegedly abducted by military in 1987. It has been 35 yrs since he disappeared w/out a trace, but she continues to fight for justice, teaching her grandson Nash that the next generation must hold the powerful accountable. 🧵4/8

Roque's latest statement on Rappler: Peke na nga ang balita ng Rappler, peke pa rin ang pagiging Pilipino nila. Ayusin muna nila ang dalawang bagay na ito bago sila sumigaw ng kalayaan sa pamamahayag. - All eyes on you @attyharryroque . An unbelievable turn around of morals.

. @mariaressa : This is not just happening in our country, it's happening all around the world. Are we going to lose freedom of the press? Or is it going to be death by a thousand cuts? Or are we going to hold the line? This is what our colleagues in the West are dealing with too.

Sarah Celiz’s two sons Almon and Dicklie were allegedly murdered by police in 2017 and is now left to care for 11 grandchildren. She represents so many women left behind from Duterte’s deadly drug war, heroically making ends meet to raise orphaned children. 🧵5/8

This is our BEST performance since the Philippines joined the Olympics. We previously had 3 medals in 1932. From not having a gold medal for nearly 100 years before this, the Philippines now has 4 MEDALS from Tokyo, 3 from boxing. And the games are NOT YET OVER. #Tokyo2020

The comparison between President Duterte & PM Lee is to highlight that Lee was clear as day in SG's protocols, plans, what people should do. How are we supposed to abide in PH if the statement wasn't 100% clear? Is it too much to ask for clarity at a time of crisis? #coronavirus

Just to be clear: a woman is very much as capable as men to be president. What’s not fit for the presidency are misogynists. (Can’t believe I need to say this in 2022…) #BilangPilipino2022 #WeDecide

Woke up to a different America today. This is my sister, an immigrant from the Philippines, who worked & paid taxes in the US for over a decade. She moved for a better life & voted for the first time. She feels hopeful for her boys, my nephews, and the next 4 yrs. 🇺🇸

The scene where @mariaressa @glendamgloria @chayhofilena @bethfrondoso were speaking about future plans is so symbolic of the fearless leadership in that newsroom: women in charge, who do not cower in the face of adversity. What a force. #DefendPressFreedom
