“There is something faintly ludicrous about the government announcing billions of pounds of cuts to disability benefits before working out how it is going to do it.” Great from @DrFrancesRyan on the cuts to disability benefits lurking in the budget.

Far from more pounds in pockets, following this autumn budget the average family will be £770 worse off by 2029 according to new JRF modelling. More action is needed if we’re to see living standards improve, especially for people on the lowest incomes.
NEW microsimulation modelling from @jrf_uk. Following #Budget2024 and the latest OBR forecasts, we find average disposable incomes are now set to fall across the parliament. By October 2029, the average family is set to be £770/yr worse off in real terms compared with today. 1/

References to the 'two child benefit cap' in the media are causing confusion. There is no cap on Child Benefit, but some families haven't applied for it thinking they're not eligible. What they're referring to is the two-child limit.
Confused about the ‘two-child benefit cap’ and what it really means. This is a quick, simple video briefing to clear up some of the misinformation out there - taking you through Child Benefit rules, two-child limit for Universal Credit & the benefits cap. Feel free to share
