Real… I was working in an Irish ED and they were pre alerted about a woman in labour. Did they not say “we have a SAn Drs on shift, they’ll help us deliver the baby” 😂😂 no DNA, just RSA 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦.
South African doctors are world class, you can never convince me otherwise!!! All the best doc 🙏🏾.

As medics, we hardly ever debrief. We just absorb the trauma and keep it moving. But some of the things we see are very heavy. And some nights it’s multiple heavy things at once.

I really uprooted my whole life and moved to a country where I don’t know a single soul… this time last week I was on a girls trip to Belfast 🇬🇧 .Tomorrow is my first St Patrick’s Day in Ireland ☘️ so much can change in a few months 🤍.

Having a good relationship with the nursing staff is so nice. They’ll do stuff that’s beyond their scope if they like you. You’ll arrive to the ward to find they’ve already taken the morning bloods for you 🥺💛.

I would encourage any South African Drs considering greener pastures abroad to really try this option. Siyagowa in Internship but we acquire certain skills in internship that might only be for specialists in other countries. Not to mention our broad clinical acumen.
Lento of Doctors not being employed is so sad yoh. .

The fact that government employees face shortages of the most basic things. incubators, linen, basic drugs, gloves,even functional generators during load shedding…then have to answer for it instead of the officials who were supposed to provide those things. Makes my head spin.
The North West Health Department says it will take action against its employees who were on duty when newborn babies were put in cardboard boxes instead of incubators or cribs at the Mahikeng Provincial Hospital.

@OlwethuVilakazi I think there are dealbreakers that warrant walking away. But in any relationship that goes the distance (including platonic ones/family etc) there will be misunderstandings that require forgiveness on both sides, and I think that’s normal.

Unrelated but rejecting leave is something I can’t wrap my head around… we’re entitled to annual leave, and should be allowed to take it however we need to 😫 especially if you’ve given enough notice.
