(1) hi! just want to put a disclaimer that as fun as this was, this is my job. I'm so lucky I get to interview people for a living but this shouldn't threaten my safety.
a supposed superfan approached me during the concert earlier and trauma dumped to me and my coworker out of-
idk if it's because I grew up abroad but I disagree: manila is full of life! maybe you should try exploring the city and see what it has to offer some time before making such a bold statement
Not to mention almost non-existent ang culture here sa Manila unlike capital cities ng neighboring countries natin. The likes of Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Taipei, Tokyo, buhay na buhay ang kultura nila sa capital cities pa lang.

it's been strange quietly watching the response unfold in real time. the internet's a noisy place and the discourse that has surfaced bc of this article has proven that
the fact that this was greenlit altogether was a miracle in and of itself. everything from the questions (1/3)
so this happened yesterday:)
i think we all have seemingly grown cognizant of how rampant the art market has been with shoving these events to our faces lately. i'm honoured to have been part of the conversation (1/2)
the fact that you're addressing it as israel-hamas is already telling of your biases, rappler
hamas is NOT an umbrella term for countless innocent palestinians who are being bombed, displaced, and tortured
Social media has yet again turned into a battleground, this time with users debating over the attacks launched by Hamas, Israel’s subsequent retaliation, and the roots behind the decades-long dispute on statehood and Israeli occupation in Palestine.

hi so I've been getting a handful of questions as to how I made this so I put together a list breaking down all the steps (and threw in some bts content hihi)
calling an immigrant with a single mother who was groomed at 17, harrassed at the country's most prestigious uni, and worked multiple jobs before her big break is wildddd

“didnt study for 9 years just to be called ate/kuya”
so you worked hard for the pedestal?
farmers are more important than us, do they assert honorific titles? education shouldn’t set us apart.
if anything, hindi pag-akyat ang medisina. pagbaba ito.
ty to everyone who's read it! I nor the artists featured meant to demean any art form. rather we want ppl to explore what art speaks to them without financial constraints. artists are not the enemy; greedy corporations are.

needed to hear this today. thanks for the reminder that sailing off without a map isn't all scary and can potientally lead to great things. 💗
to who I planned on interviewing had to be approved by the publication and the editing process took months before it became what it is today. I'm grateful that cy, jules, and nicci were all on board to be part of something important bc this clearly needed to be addressed. (2/3)
as a filipino who was once heavily whitewashed, I do think we should be less harsh to those who are trying to reconnect back to their respective culture. while they may not get everything right, dogpiling only discourages them from discovering the beauty of their native roots.
You know what, sometimes people are lost and are trying to find their way back. While it’s true that their use of “loob” isn’t common, we have to understand why they’re /trying/ to find ways back into the language. If theyre not exploiting anybody I’d rethink my tone with crit.

mitski being boxed as "tragically melancholy" when she's just introspective is a disservice to her artistry but y'all aren't ready for that conversation
