🧵Where I work in the middle of the Pacific, it can be quite challenging once your aircraft is grounded due to technical problem. 6 years ago I ended up being stranded for 12 days on Fanning island, 1 hr 20 mins flight NW of Christmas Island. At the time I was a First Officer 👩✈️

After work. I had to do my 6 monthly refresher ✈️ to practice my emergency manoeuvres. Just me & our Chief Pilot, no pax allowed. 2day I simulated 4 dif engine failure phases. After takeoff, landing and before commencing an RNAV approach. What a day. Glad the check is over ✔️😁

Last week, I found out that my neighborhood shopkeeper's nephew is waiting to go to his home island, far away from where we are. His airfare is just over AUD300. Just bc the aunty has been so nice to me, I signed my rebate form & next week I'm taking him free of charge ✈️😉

My apartment is right by the water which is awesome. During high tide & windy conditions it's normal to get sea spray in the house. So it's best to remain in the aircon room 😁 Also saltwater affects electronics. Learned that the hard way lol no more tv screens 😅
