I currently have no words but when I find them, I will try and reflect on my 19 year teaching career, 15 years at @BeaumontSchStA and of course 11 years with @daveguinane. But for now, just this below.

Absolutely this. If you reduced teaching load significantly then I would *consider* returning to the profession. But only consider. It's not the only reason I left.
Reason #1 ppl often don't 'get' why full day, full-timetable teaching is so tough: The pace. It's unrelenting. It's not 'Oh, I'll pop to the loo', 'I'll day dream, just for a minute', 'I'll just switch off for the next hour and no one will know' - they will know, you will get found out! It's intense - You must be 'on' ALL the time. That's why it's so hard to sustain, esp in the toughest contexts, because humans need a head rest. That's why extra PPA is just so, so vital and thee biggest thing that would change so many teacher lives.
