My A-Level statistics teacher told us that when he was at Oxford, he went to his professor and said “we’ve looked at the data and it doesn’t appear to confirm your hypothesis”, to which he replied, “well change the data then.”
Don’t read any novels post-2000.
Don’t bother with art post-1980.
Don’t listen to any music post-2007.
Don’t watch any films post-2011.
Don’t watch any TV series post-2015.
There’s always exceptions but these are sound rules by-and-large.
Outstanding tweet.
Moreover, these results leave a lot to be desired.
“Good school” based upon some measures they decide & not “leaves literate & numerate and capable of contributing to the economy/society”
“Good food” means “not hungry” because they’re full of junk food.

Those aren't *policies* those are *results*
You've had your way for 80 years with policy and have gotten horrific results and you have the audacity to claim that bad results prove that you're not in charge
Whatever happened to logic;
- If the vaccinated can transmit a virus it is a personal not a community health concern
- Wariness of a vaccine with no long term safety data is rational, particularly when the virus is sufficiently harmless to children

“Lockdowns were a disaster and we should have locked down earlier.”

A novel I read 25 years ago, revisited. It holds up. Written in 1991, it feels further along, deep early nineties. A harbinger of what was to come.

Irish true crime docs consist of ultra chilled out retired detectives sat in armchairs explaining how they turned up & the husband was covered in blood carrying a knife & they could smell burning flesh coming from the garden. “And I thought there’s something not quite right here”
21. ‘Trust in the Science’, ‘Follow the Science’, they said. Yet ‘the Science’ changed, flip-flopped, and advice given today was readily forgotten tomorrow.
