What? 😂 Tamil film makers have been using mass cinema so inventively. Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu, Lokesh's Kaithi & Master, Ranjith's Kabali & Kaala, Nelson's Doctor and Vettri's Asuran are all examples of how Tamil cinema has managed to find a balance between mass and different.

I don't think the second half is that badly written at all. It's just that the audience comes in with a higher expectation post-interval when you give them such good writing & filmmaking in the first half, so even if it becomes above-average, the disappointment is more.

I really wish the Ilaiyaraaja biopic addresses the turbulent relationship he had with his kids. Karthik Raja followed his father's ideology of a disciplined process of music making, while U1 was a rebel who went with the flow and became more successful. Would make for good drama.

Karthik Subburaj is probably one of the best writers in Tamil cinema today. No question. Man is literally miles ahead.
Direction: it’s a bit harder to judge. KS is more classical in his approach, Loki is very inventive with his staging, but hard to say one is better.

I won't get into details but if you're in Chennai and frequent a particular studio for recording, you'll hear the most kick-ass story of Vaali agreeing to write an independent album song for a bunch of youngsters. Crazy story. Man was a hormonal teenager at heart.
