@NASCAR fan, hoping for a return to gimmick free racing. Might be a bot, only bots hate the NASCAR playoffs.

@KiNg_ChO2 @jeff_gluck I’m not talking about casuals. Eventually the next gen will be the core fans. Literally millions stopped watching the sport years ago and don’t pass it on to their kids anymore. Maybe they will watch from Feb to Nov, but maybe more would watch if it was a bit shorter

@albarney @BHill1417 @jeff_gluck I also don’t watch all 162 for the Jays, but when they don’t make the playoffs there is a 5 month off-season. The cup series asks you to watch from mid Feb to Nov, dropping a few races will still be the shortest off season and might make it more appealing to the next gen of fan.

@KiNg_ChO2 @jeff_gluck Imagine loving a sport and wanting what is best for it. I personally used to consume every minute of racing possible, but will the next generation? If we cut a few races wouldn’t that make it less daunting for a new fan to watch? It would still be one of the shortest off seasons

@BHill1417 @jeff_gluck I didn’t think this was that much of a hot take, it’s not like I suggested we cut the season in half. I believe more people would be likely to tune in every week if it was mid Feb to Early Oct. Many tune out when NFL starts and the playoffs have done nothing to help ratings.

@CouchRacerShop They can put whatever gimmick stages/breaks they want for the clash and all-star race. Normal points paying races should not have stage cautions. No other sport takes away the leaders advantage during the event, it’s a joke.

@MattWeaverRA I prefer the clash at Daytona for pole winners, but it’s not a hill I’m willing to die on. If they get rid of the playoffs, stages and spec car they can put the clash and all-star race wherever they want with whatever gimmicked up format they can dream up.

@bobpockrass I was hoping this would be his resignation. We need new leadership that is not obsessed with gimmicks and manufactured entertainment to start moving the sport in the right direction.

@jeff_gluck @bobpockrass @joeylogano It’s not his fault the system is garbage, but he is not on the same level as the true 3 time champions. Joey would be a 0 time champion under any full season format. He is on the luck side of a gimmicky system that took titles away from more deserving drivers.

@CouchRacerShop Full season points, it’s the only way to consistently crown the best driver of the season. Make the title mean something again. Most of the playoff champions are undeserving and illegitimate.

@NASCAR No one cares about your undeserving, fake, gimmicky champions. Go back to full season points.

They need to use AI because there is no one with actual intelligence running the show. It’s not hard to fix the sport, get rid of the stages and playoff gimmicks and re-design the car.

.@NASCAR is evaluating how it can use generative AI for competition matters such as asking a model how playoff format changes could impact the sport, per COO Steve O'Donnell. 🗨: "How that applies to our formats of the future, I think AI can play a really big role in that."

The final race of the season should always be at Homestead Miami where we do the trophy presentation for the legitimate deserving season long champion. O’Donnell is a liar who doesn’t understand racing and only wants manufactured drama and fake game 7 moments @NASCAR

@A_S12 @NASCAR There shouldn’t be a championship race. We need to get rid of O’Donnell and Phelps and go back to a full season points format.

Hopefully @NASCAR has given up on trying to salvage the failure gen7 and we get a properly designed stock car for the 2026 season.

@Jordan_Bianchi @jeff_gluck Phelps is completely out of touch. The racing was no where near the best its ever been and they crossed the line of being gimmicky a loooong time ago. With him and O’Donnell in charge we will continue to move in the complete wrong direction.

@jeff_gluck Nope. Car is still a huge failure and will continue to be until it gets a major overhaul. Undeserving champions at every level. We need a change in the leadership to get back to being a legitimate sport again.

@pkligerman Nothing wrong with small changes. Double file, choose cone, I can even accept GWC but wouldn’t miss it. But changing a well established format that always produced a deserving season champ into fake drama that forces “game 7 moments” makes the title mean nothing.
