I mean, there was one actress I know of who hosted a free book club in 2020 for a year that had zero profit for her, zero career boosts or even got her real PR.
I don’t care what she does or doesn’t attend or post or sell now but no one can say she’s not a real one.
They don’t just have book clubs they’re buying the IP rights to be a part of their book club to turn them into movies and profit centers.
Many of them also have production companies. That’s the missing piece.
