I feel like you’re having a different conversation. Most Americans never think of Canada as being part of our fentanyl problem. Trump’s public linking of Canada to it has drawn incredulity from many. Scott’s reporting shows that Trump didn’t make this up. If you dislike Trump, remember that even a broken clock is right twice a day.

My theory is that Trump is trying to help unseat liberal governments in the west so that he can partner with more muscular right wing governments against China.

I voted Biden in 2020 bc I believed in preserving the institutions, changing them on the margins. The institutionalists had 4 years to make their counterargument to Trump, and resoundingly lost in part bc these institutions are in horrible shape. Maybe this way is the lesser evil.
