The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) celebrated its partnership with the Kurdistan Accrediting Association for Education (@KAAE_KRD) in a ceremony at the @Kurdistan Regional Government Representation in the United States building in Washington, D.C. on January 13, 2025. Commission President Heather Perfetti, Senior Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel Tracey Schneider, and Senior Vice President for Accreditation Relations and Services Judi Sciple represented the Commission at the event. The partnership supports the development of KAAE as a quality assurance agency in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and seeks to enhance education standards, promote the best practices, and ensure institutional excellence in the Kurdistan Region through capacity building, standards development, and other key initiatives. As part of the strategic priorities of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), we continue to be responsive to interest in our accreditation. Newly developed procedures for institutions in good standing with other USDE-recognized accreditors will provide opportunities for an efficient pathway to accreditation while continuing to promote the Commission’s mission, vision, and values. The Commission invites institutions to consider the benefits of accreditation with our Commission, with over 500 diverse institutions. Learn more:

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) welcomes three new staff members who will serve as Vice Presidents for Institutional Field Relations! Aminah Massenburg joined the Commission in October 2024 as Vice President for Institutional Field Relations – Specialized Compliance Support. Kristy Bishop and Michael Bowden will join the Commission as Vice Presidents for Institutional Field Relations in January 2025. Learn more:

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Appeals from Adverse Accrediting Actions Procedures have been revised to clarify and streamline the appeals process for institutions subject to an adverse action. The Show Cause Appearance Before the Commission Prior to Adverse Action Procedures were updated to reflect the Show Cause Appearance as a formal proceeding and to align key communication checkpoints.
