For me, it’s not about “policing speech,” it’s an issue of safeguarding and protecting kids. Do you think it is right to confuse children about their ability to trust their own senses? Do you understand the significance of the Little Red Riding Hood story? Little Red’s direct sense perceptions of the situation were accurate, she saw the big ears, big eyes, and sharp teeth of the wolf. She ran into danger because she let the wolf’s rationalizations talk her out of trusting her own body’s signals. Adults who perpetuate cognitive dissonance publicly effectively groom kids to think they can’t trust the signals of their own body. Kids who can’t trust their bodies are vulnerable to future predation. Using wrong sex pronouns is not benign. It isn’t healthy to endorse deception in signal communication. Sex deception violates our most valuable instinct, sex recognition. Normalizing sex deception harms society and puts kids in danger.
