“The IOPC is almost unregulated, they can do what they like, they can throw allegations of racism around as they see fit. “There needs to be something done on some middle ground between accountability and officers not being vulnerable to malign, malicious and vexatious complaints where the assumption is that they are racist before any investigation starts."

Imagine working in a dangerous and difficult profession, where this 👇 is the level of contempt regularly shown towards you, knowing that no one in authority has your back. It is no mystery why officers are leaving in droves and they can’t recruit. I certainly wouldn’t join the police now.

The stop was under s1 PACE for weapons - not drugs. TSG were performing directed patrols due to increase in violent crime and gang activity in area. Vehicle drove in a circuitous manner and made off when required to stop. The smell of cannabis gave the officers no additional power of search or detention. Stop & search was fully justified given the circumstances. Your inexperience in the dynamics and difficulties of policing the streets of the Metropolis is all too apparent.

Yet again, @metpoliceuk have failed to call out the poor behaviour of the instigators of this incident, that led to the resented stop and search in question. We should not be apologising *at all* to anyone involved in this matter, except the police officers who have had their lives turned upside down and forced to defend their reputations (for the last 4 years) for doing nothing more than the job they are expected by society to do. By not calling out the poor behaviour by Santos and Williams - presumably for the sake of concern over 'community tensions', sends the wrong message and further undermines our brave officers out there at the sharp end of the thin blue line. Let's not forget that former Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick said at the time "any officer worth their salt would have stopped that car".

👇👇👇 This is what I said during an interview for ITV news. The comments from the PAT chair were damming. The panel need to be held to account for their poor performance.

@DannyShawNews , he didn't wrongly arrest a woman for fare evasion. The arrest was ultimately deemed necessary, just and lawful. He arrested her *on suspicion* of fare evasion - due to her repeated failure to show a valid ticket for travel on demand, and her actions in attempting to walk off from Revenue Protecting Inspectors and a PCSO before ultimately being stopped by PC Lathwood. She behaved appallingly by her actions on the day - and this needs to be called out.
