There needs to be a GAO-type assessment of all the cuts DOGE has performed/proposed and the potential consequences - for example I expect the #NIH funding cuts would save the average taxpayer about 1¢ but will damage our nation’s research infrastructure & talent pool for decades

My office manager was on hold a total of 11 Hours over 2 days (this past Thursday afternoon and subsequently Friday morning)trying to get a pre-authorization from BCBS of South Carolina completed for patient… She was waking around with the office phone headset and a set of AirPods… one was for the prior auth the other for the other work she has to do in the office… Given the number of hours spent to obtain the auth…. The procedure loses money before even getting approved

@JasonSynaptic Maybe on the surface… they will attack research funding as ‘elitist’ and ‘blue state’. This cover story will appease their blue collar supporters but the real reason I suspect is the time honored oligarch strategy to privatize research
