Due to a stroke of good fortune, a big favor from a mysterious benefactor, & a little bit of hard work... we have TWO surprise episode drops for y'all on this, "the busiest travel week of the year."
First up: Our 3 and a half hour ep on the Andor finale.
If there is one thing you need to hear from this week's ep of A More Civilized Age, it's Rob's grand unified theory of Andor's connection to... well, listen:
Hey folks! An unexpected medical issue over the last couple of weeks messed with our schedule. Everyone is okay now, so don't worry! But we're going to skip this week, focus doing an Obi-Wan ep for Patrons NEXT WEEK, and be back on sched the week after that. Ty for your patience!
We've FINALLY made it to Rebels! And, let's see here, it seems that Obi-Wan Kenobi has a little message for all the Jedi out there trying to make it by. Just gonna load this up and... ah, yes, I see.
If there is one thing you need to hear from this week's ep of A More Civilized Age, it's Rob's grand unified theory of Andor's connection to... well, listen:
New episode! After a long break, we finally return to Star Wars Rebels! And to some up our feelings on the start of season two....
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hey everyone! Important news and a request!
SAG-AFTRA recently released new guidelines for podcasters:
Though Rebels is not a guild production, it is hosted on Disney+ and tied closely to the ongoing promotion of Ahsoka.
Hey folks! End of year travel + unlucky illnesses kept us from recording before the break, but we will be getting in front of the mics TONIGHT to talk about the Leviathan and KOTOR 1's big reveal. AND Cado is going to quickly turn the episode around, so you'll have it Friday!
And here we are... the 50TH EPISODE OF A MORE CIVILZIED AGE. And what an episode it is, as Andor has given us another banger. So much to chew on regarding sacrifice, revolution, and history, all anchored by some of the best performances all season. Enjoy!
We drank the blue milk. We learned how to block blaster bolts with a lightsaber. We got tipsy on something called a "Krayt Reactor." And now you can hear about all of that and more from our trip to the Galactic Starcruiser!
Hey folks! Heads up: We're going to do ALL of Dantooine for this next episode. We thought we could carve it up into smaller eps, but realized it was better to just go all in and do one mega ep for it. (We recorded it last night. We are very excited for you to hear it)
As we head into the final few hours before the Andor finale drops, here's a clip from a few episodes about how much this show has meant to us in reopening our love for Star Wars.
Apologies for the delay in publishing this, but our first episode on Knights of the Old Republic is up! We introduce each other to our characters, and explore the opening area of the game and get a taste of how our builds are going to work out for us.
Second, for our $5 patrons: A LIVE REACTION MP3 for you to sync up to your own watch, so that you can hear us swoon, sigh, shout, and scream as we take in the events from the finale for the first time.
😩 we were really hoping the prices would drop instead of this but... i guess if anyone has a connect there and can get us on a list to be some of the final guests, let us know???
Breaking: Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will make its final voyage on Sept. 28, 2023.
New bookings for voyages through Sept. 28 will be temporarily paused while the booking team contacts guests with voyages from Sept. 30 through the end of the year.
Andor season 1 may be over, but here on AMCA, the Autumn of Andor continues!
Today we welcome
@AdamSerwer
to the podcast to chat about the show, its politics, his lifelong Star Wars fandom, and the highs and lows of the franchise.
Thought hard about shitposting for
#MayThe4thBeWithYou
, but instead, gonna take a second to sincerely say thanks so much for all the support y'all have shown us already.
For those of you who haven't listened yet, we'd love if you would give us a shot!
Hey folks! Cado is still under the weather, so we're gonna push this next ep by a week to give them time to recover! Send them all your positive vibes!!
As such, we're figuring out how to best continue the podcast without crossing the picket lines or promoting struck material, which we feel covering Rebels does. To help us do that, can you please take a moment to fill out this form with some suggestions!
i scheduled this like forever ago as like a ha-ha, light april fools joke except in the time since then an asshole bought this website and broke how scheduled tweets interact with videos, so, idk, here you go enjoy
also, new Q&A ep very soon
For those missing the Patreon pod today, we just finished our ep about back half of Acolyte! Give us a little time to get it edited, but you should have it soon.
We are finally getting to the bottom of this war. That's right. On this week of A More Civilized Age, it's time to talk about banking deregulation and arms deals in "the Galactic Republic."
When we recorded we didn't know that a ton of Bioware staff would be laid off this week and it's upsetting and disappointing to see so much talent who made such major contributions to their craft and their company let go so unceremoniously.
To those curious why there's no ep in their feeds yet, well, obviously that's because it got stuck in the jungles of Umbara. Rough situation. It'll probably get here later tonight, so sit tight and do your best to ignore Krell's orders until then.
New ep just dropped! Three kinda mediocre one-offs, buoyed by a few charming moments or meaty world building connotations. Obi-Wan in his most fightable mode yet. Anakin in a submarine battle. Padme.... well, Padme...
BRAND NEW EPISODE--a little late, BUT VERY IMPORTANT
The gang has finally made it to Leviathan. Secrets revealed! Betrayals exposed!! Old school guides praised!! !
We hope everyone enjoys the episode and remembers all the labor that goes into the entertainment they enjoy. And we hope that our respect and love for this kind of work comes through alongside our criticism and, inevitably, the jokes we end up making along the way.
Apologies for the episode delay! Blame our troubled hyperspace travel on the way back from the Halcyon--which we'll talk about in an episode either later this month or early next!
New episode!! This week, Kanan tries to teach important lessons about connecting with others but Ezra's tooooooo saaaaaad 🥺🥺🥺 he's a widdle birthday boy and he's sooooo sad!!!!
hello listeners!! unfortunately... some of our crew is out sick this week so this month's Patreon Q&A will be delayed. trust in the force that our voices will be returning to your feeds very soon!!!!
Thank you to
@kirkhamilton
for swinging by the show and chatting about Nicholas Britell's incredible Andor score with us! We also talked some big picture feelings re: music in the franchise, future of Andor itself, and one more theory about Cass' sister!
We're BACK, BABEYYYYY!!!!!! Thank you for your patience now that we've finally sat down to discuss MORTIS! Hear us dig into our thoughts about balance, force visions, and little freaks~
You are likely thinking of Michael Burawoy's Manufacturing Consent: Changes in Labor Process under Monopoly Capitalism. Which is ACTUALLY what I (Austin) meant to reference when I instead mentioned Braverman. Evidence I've been out of the field for too long! (pg 51, then 80-83)
@More_Civilized
I've spent the last week trying to remember a book of ethnography I was assigned in college about a piecework factory, possibly in Indiana, where workers had independently gamified their daily quotas, and I think the AMCA community is where I could find people to help.
We've been trying to put together today's ep forever!
@jessfromonline
guests to facilitate a session of GOING ROGUE, her game "about troubled martyrs mired in messy, ethically gray conflicts who must face the possibility of making the ultimate sacrifice"
THE OFFICIAL AMCA CLONE WARS SKIP LIST HAS BEEN COMPLETED!
For our December Patreon episode, backers can enjoy the live "making of the list."
Hearts were broken. Tears were shed. Friendships were tested to the absolute limit. Enjoy!
Some folks have said they're glad we're back off of break, but... we never went on break! Which makes me suspect that people skipped the guest episodes--a thing I totally understand and often do w/ other podcasts. But seriously, they're great eps and you should try them!
ICYMI, our nearly four hour deep dive into the Clone Wars Season 5 Finale is now live! What do we talk about? Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, right?
We're back to Rebels for a pair of super solid story-of-the-week episodes. Extra thanks to
@a_cado_appears
for their effort in editing this one since we lost most of one of our files and had to work for a backup!
