Enter Tomocube’s Holotomography (HT): a non-destructive, label-free 3D imaging tech at ~100 nm resolution—like an X-ray CT but with light. Originally for transparent biological samples, HT now enables clear views of TGVs and microcracks without breaking or staining.

A major hurdle? 3D inspection. TGVs in glass are transparent, and microcracks are tiny—often just a few hundred nanometers. The current method of breaking glass for cross-sectional analysis isn’t scalable for high-volume manufacturing.

Semiconductor giants—led by Intel—are investing heavily in glass substrate R&D. Cost of glass isn’t the big issue; the real challenge is precision processing, preventing breakage, and scaling for mass production. Ultrafast lasers & advanced etching are key.

Had the honor of giving an invited talk at @asdp_ai. introduced the implementation of 3D histopathology using holotomography and AI. #DigitalPathology is an inevitable trend, and the key question now is how to combine the vast amount of pathology data with AI to unlock new value.

Excited to co-lead the Gastric Pre-Cancer #HumanTumorAtlas @NCIHTAN project. Our lab at @MayoClinic @MayoCancerCare @MayoClinicSOM is developing cutting-edge 3D tumor imaging and generating single cell and spatial comics data to drive AI-powered 3D molecular tumor modeling. Working with @DrMingyaoLi @PennMedicine & @IamLinghua @MDAndersonNews, we are focused on understanding how gastric pre-cancer forms, develops into cancer, and responds to treatments, leading to better treatment strategies.
