First time reading any Vonnegut- just finished Slaughterhouse- Five. Loved it, a real mix of the absurd and the poignant. And surprisingly philosophical- it was different to what I expected, in a good way!

My favourite Clash album, which puts me in a minority I think. I agree that there's some 'filler' but it also has some of my favourite Clash tracks ever and a really expansive sound when considering it holistically. It's a huge achievement. And their best album cover.

I think we should make it perfectly acceptable to not have an encyclopaedic knowledge of a band before you are permitted to call yourself a fan/wear their t shirts etc. You can just casually like things, it's fine.

My top tip is to deliberately name 3 songs by a different, but relatively similar band. E.g- asked for Clash songs? Give 'em Sex Pistols or Ramones tracks and watch heads explode.

It's Sandinista for me. Obvs I love the other ones as well (The Clash are my favourite band) but Sandinista is immense and has some of their best tracks on it. Ambitious and sprawling and in parts a bit baffling, it's an incredible achievement.
