We applied a theoretical framework with the help of @Ecohydro_Soils to show that it is not just the low density but the hydrophobic surface of microplastics that diminishes the effect of the water bridge to glue #microplastics on the soil surface.

Congratulations @Onja_Raoelison for extensive analysis of global data on water quality degradation after #wildfire . Her analysis reveals that post-fire water quality depends on burned area (source) and sampling time and flow rate (dilution factor).

How would you increase #PFAS removal capacity of a conventional stormwater biofilter without expensive replacement of its filter media? Add inexpensive cationic polymer in situ! @AnneshBorthakur shows that the practice could have other unexpected benefits:

Congratulations @KoutnikVera for leading 4 undergrads in this fun little project that confirmed the expected: children’s playgrounds contain more #microplastics than any other part of urban parks! @Win_OpenData @SEALab_UCLA. Why and how? Check here:

Our recent work (full text in @WaterRes_J shows that freeze-thaw cycles disproportionately move denser microplastics in subsurface. It also raise a question on why denser #microplastics are pushed more by ice-water interface than by air-water interface.

@AEESP2022_WashU attendees: add at least 30-45 min extra to your time to get stuck in long line at St. Louis airport. 4th July crowd and flight cancellation made the line longer. Arriving within one hour within departure time is not an option! Safe travel! #aeesp2022 @AEESProfs
