As some of you may have realized yesterday, I didn’t cover a game last night. I assure you, it was for good reason. I was celebrating a first in my life. My Tanner Weber story last year won best sports news story in WNA Better Newspaper contest. Link:

That's what Columbus
@JackTowne12
told me he was feeling last spring. The signs of depression & anxiety were there.
The pressure of being a student-athlete mounted, but reaching out for help saved his life.
If you haven't already, go get yourself a copy of the Daily Citizen that has a special section dedicated to
@BDBeavers_Bball
girls hoops team. It has a feature on the managers as well as a column from me.
Want some inspiration? Go to a
@NorskiFootball
game and watch Carter Morrison play. The junior had an incident where his left hand had four fingers amputated. All he’s done is inspire those around him ever since.

Derek Schwarting (
@dschwartin7
) tried to sleep off what he thought was a common illness that was much more serious. Now the former
@MCF_Football
quarterback is using his experience to make a difference.
Gracie Gopalan's (
@gracie_gopalan
) motto she lives by for basketball is "Heart over height." She proves every day her 5-foot-4 stature doesn't stop her from making an impact for

My story:
Columbus' Randonh Dauman was named Player of the Year in the Capitol North Conference. He and Trent Casper were first team selections. Other first teamers were
@_ConnorManthey
at DH and Joey Kalafut.
Did anyone see how awesome Brayden Sanders was at shortstop replacing Reece Homan in a sectional final game? The sophomore definitely showed a lot of poise to be thrown out there like that.
Hey folks, I’ve got a little tease for you. I’ve been working on these profiles for girls and boys hoops for a few weeks now. They’ll be in the B section in tomorrow’s Daily Citizen. They were created by designer Evan Hill (
@floodmixed
). So make sure to get a copy of the paper!
Hey folks, we've got our All-Area teams and Players of the Year awards in today's paper. Here are photos of the section that was created by
@Smithmi
. Awesome designs for sure.
I have to say, it was a pleasure covering the
@WaupunHoops
this season. They were very special regardless of how the state tournament turned out.
@marcusdomask1
good luck at next level.
@DanDomask
always fun talking with you and
@trevor_vz
and
@reecehoman
will miss you guys.
Kevin DeBoer was a special coach for Waupun baseball. He led Warriors to a state championship & multiple conference championships, & was recently inducted into the WBCA. This year's team honored him by wearing No. 6 on the side of their hats. Now are eyeing another state berth.
Per the request of a certain baseball player, here's my photo of today's groundbreaking at Waupun High School. What do you think
@bbille88
? You're in there somewhere.
With runners on second and third in no outs,
@bbille88
took it into his own hands and struck out next three batters to advance to sectional final with a 2-0.

There were many Trailways Conference wrestlers at this weekend’s state wrestling tournament and I saw multiple times guys wishing each other good luck or congratulating one another on a great season. Truly a special conference.
Just got word that former Columbus pitcher Randon Dauman (
@grbdauman22
) has committed to play D1 college baseball at St. Louis University next season.
Three straight outs. Biggest one is when Bryce Burmania bobbles a grounder but still makes the 5-3 putout. Waupun, you are headed to state baby! Beats Catholic Memorial 1-0.
Had fun going to Columbus on this terrible, stormy night. What made it fun was
@ColumbusCrazies
chanting my name not once but twice. They sure know how to make a guy feel comfortable!
