The grace of God can change our desires and pleasures to what is good and right. “As shameful conduct is pleasure for a fool,  so wisdom is for a person of understanding.” Proverbs 10:23

Another reminder that the Christian life is supernatural: “In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should,  but the Spirit himself intercedes for us , with inexpressible groanings.” Romans 8:26

Trust God and choose humility over a prideful and arrogant attitude, which He hates. “The Lord hates six things; in fact, seven are detestable to him: arrogant eyes,  a lying tongue,  hands that shed innocent blood, ” Proverbs 6:16-17

The darkness of sin keeps us blind to the things that are hurting us. “But the way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom;  they don’t know what makes them stumble. ” Proverbs 4:19

Choosing humility over pride has great rewards. “He mocks those who mock but gives grace to the humble. ” Proverbs 3:34

Love this verse in Psalms that reminds us that true life is fueled by a never ending pursuit of God. “Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him.” Psalms 105:4

We can be confident that God’s justice will prevail. Those who plant injustice will harvest disaster, and their reign of terror will come to an end. Proverbs 22:8

Arrogance & pride destroy and lead to evil that destroys. “Haughty eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions are all sin.” Proverbs 21:4

By God’s grace we can see, perceive, and understand. “Ears to hear and eyes to see— both are gifts from the Lord.” Proverbs 20:12

Pray for God‘s grace to keep our eyes on what’s best and truly matters. “Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.” Proverbs 17:24

Everything is from God, even the ability to reason and understand. It’s all by God’s grace. “Who put wisdom in the heart or gave the mind understanding?” Job 38:36

Misplaced faith & hope in our lives weakens and leads to pain and death. “When the wicked die, their hopes die with them, for they rely on their own feeble strength.” Proverbs 11:7
