Ran into a former student today at the store. Everything he shared had nothing to do with the content I taught, but things I did/said that impacted him greatly. The scary thing is, I don’t remember any of those interactions.
An important reminder that every interaction matters.

I said Welcome Back to a student today. They responded, "you can't imagine how excited I am to be back." They wouldn't explain why, but it reaffirms that schools must be safe places for all of our students. All kids NEED us for DIFFERENT reasons.

It's been over 200 days since I've been in a school building with kids. Today we brought students back. You can immediately feel the energy. You can see smiles and hear laughs through masks.

Today may have been the most rewarding day as an educator. Started the day by leading my first commencement ceremony as a principal and ended it by watching our softball team clinch a regional title. We have amazing kids at Heights. Thankful to be a part of the community.

This past week at an IEP meeting , a parent was asked if she had any concerns. Her reply: “I don’t see concerns, only opportunities.”
Such a powerful outlook on life and learning. Thank you to this parent as it has changed my lens and how I will look at things moving forward.

After hitting submit on my last final, I just completed the first year of my doctoral program. It has been everything everyone has said it would be; intense, rewarding, frustating, and motivating. Looking forward to continuing to learn and grow.
