@NotAntXIV If they were privileged or not, they were still black American. And then same way a slave in Haiti could speak broken French or from the Island of Martinique slaves in Louisiana and French territory could speak broken French.

@NotAntXIV Any French influenced location will have similarities, other French Caribbean islands like Martinique to West African countries colonized by the French like Benin have similarities. The voodoo doesnโ€™t come from Haiti, it comes from Africa.

@NotAntXIV So these free people of color that came from there were oppressors to enslaved Africans on that island. None of them would even know what a Haiti is. We have had slaves come from out of African into the United States after 1809. Those black slaves would be black Americans.

@only1showers @taruscarolina @soulfasho @LegatronPrime These werenโ€™t the black Haitians that are trying to claim New Orleans. Actually these were their oppressors and considered white when they fled and came to United states

@StormShadux @VoiceOfOurAnces This rewritten history is based off of a claim. From my research he was born in the New France territory. Had a French white father and a slave mother. And even if he was born on that island, the country wasnโ€™t even named Haiti in the 1700s. Trying to claim the 1700s is wild.

@XSNRGmagazine @AfricanArchives First off, your source literally reads โ€œ little is known about him, they (BELIEVE) he was born to Frenchman that moved to Haiti. Dude read your own sources. You proved nothing here for the burden of proof to be in my hands.

@XSNRGmagazine @AfricanArchives Google searching is going to be the death of us. He was born in the New France Territory of France in North America. Two a French white men and black slave. This new attempt to rewrite history to certain peoples liking is amazing.

@Dexignerdreams @iamhim916 @AfricanArchives Haiti didnโ€™t exist when he was born. He was born in New France and after the land was turned over, his nationality switched from FRENCH TO AMERICAN making him a Negro. If you do a deep dive into his history instead of a surface level google search it will show this.
