@miranolactone I don’t get what your point is— it doesn’t undercut the very obvious effects of Soviet settler colonialism in Kazakhstan and how it affected the demographic balance there, as it currently does in, say, Palestine. That’s my only point

@Manasamafangirl @miranolactone This is so disingenuous oh my fuckinggod I don’t care about the “national purity” of a place it’s merely demonstrating the effects the USSR’s settler-colonial system had on Kazakhstan. the vast influx of Russian settlers making it so Russians were a majority in FUCKING KAZAKHSTAN

@RetroWizard_ Guys I’m not comparing the USSR to apartheid South Africa if you don’t get the comparison I’m making here I can explain it

@g_abe0 Nobody talks about how when the red army first occupied Ukraine it went on a massive spree defacing and destroying basically anything that remotely promoted Ukrainian culture or national identity. Almost zero difference between them and the Russian army right now

@RetroWizard_ @blarpvs @AnarchistNoa Ig probably anarchists now are more averse to the hamsic than anarchists back then, because we have the historical hindsight we don’t have of what the people who wave that symbol usually tend to do to actual attempts at achieving communism

@PhxInsurgent Hope this helps. If it’s still “cold” then whatever we still agree 👍
I think the hot take portion of this is that we need to abandon the hamsic not *solely* on the basis of the fact we aren’t Marxists, but because we should recognize the hamsic as a symbol directly associated with a colonial state that subjugated numerous indigenous peoples
